I crossed the street to avoid meeting him, but he saw me and came running towards me. It was no use pretending that I had not seen him, so I waved to him. I never enjoy meeting Nigel Dykes. He never has anything to do. No matter how busy you are, he always insists on coming with you. I had to think of a way of preventing him from following me around all morning.

'Hello, Nigel,' I said. 'Fancy meeting you here!'

"Hello, Elizabeth," Nigel replied. I just don't know how to spend this morning-until I see you. "You're not busy, are you?"

' No, not at all,' I answered.' I'm going to.'

句中的修是动名词，形式上是主动的，意义上是被动的。在这种情况下，主题通常是肤浅的。

在第20课和第44课的基础上，本课出现了下列动名词的新用法。

1.句型中的动名词

比如：

It is no use crying over spilt milk.

It is not worth worrying about.

2.动名词用作宾语补足语。

比如：

I can't stand people shouting and pushing.

He heard me opening the door.

3.动名词的逻辑主语

动名词可以有自己的逻辑主语。动名词作句子的主语或宾语时，其逻辑主语的形式用法是不同的。

1)作为一个对象

此时，动名词的逻辑主语可以是人称代词宾格或名词，也可以是形容词所有格或名词所有格。比如：

2)做主语

至此，动名词的逻辑主语只能采取形容词所有格代词或名词所有格的形式。比如：
