The following is compiled from: www.psychologytoday.com, by Scott weems.

In his book Intellectual Characteristics: What Is It, Why It's Important, and How to Get It, Ritchhart points out six key tendencies that make up rich intellectual characteristics. I can't guarantee that if you learn all this, you will be as smart as O 'Brien or McGifford, but you will better cope with the random challenges in life. Except for the broken nuclear submarine. I don't care what the TV says, you should stay away from those.

罗恩里奇哈特在《Intellectual Character: What it Is, Why it Matters, and How to Get it》一书中指出,一个人的智力性格主要由以下六种气质构成。

1. Open-minded (open-minded)

Faith is like a hammer-sometimes it is a great tool, but when it doesn't belong, it will get you into trouble. The biggest advantage of independent thinking is knowing when to use it. Being open-minded means always considering the possibility of substitution, not what you already know. Usually this is confused with tolerance or acceptance, but these are passive features. Open-mindedness is more positive, which means going beyond simple or expected explanations.

2. Curiosity (curiosity)

Walter O 'Brien started disassembling computers and hacking into government mainframes at the age of 13, but there are some less extreme ways to distract you. Online education courses or foreign language teaching may be a good start. Or go to the local library and pick up the first book you see. I have done this before, and now I have a deep understanding of the history of sushi. So that's it.

3. Metacognition (Metacognition)

This is more difficult, it means exploring yourself and your own thinking process. When O 'Brien founded Scorpion Enterprise, he realized that his social embarrassment would hinder his development, so he hired a person who was good at EQ to help him. This is good for his business and his TV show, which employs katherine mcphee as an emotional expert. Does anyone want a romantic subplot?

4. Seeking truth and understanding (seeking the truth and trying to understand it)

In his book on the characteristics of intelligence, Ritchhart points out that students are often asked to share their views on complex topics to promote their future study. It's nothing, but it may be dangerous if we don't ask ourselves why we have such an opinion. No matter what politicians say, truth and opinions are different things. Only when we explore the knowledge and assumptions behind our thinking can we adapt to those opinions when new evidence appears.

When I was first learning to play chess, I simply set up the board and started playing. This was fine, but I lost a lot, even to a computer with the lowest possible skill set. Sometimes we need to have a plan if we want to learn something new, and though everybody learns differently, everybody needs a plan to learn in an efficient way.

Another term for doubt is exploration, which means that we are not afraid to look deeper. For example, when O 'Brien claimed in his speech that his IQ was 197, I did some research and found that this statement was suspicious at best. Why did O 'Brien make such an assertion when the standardized test didn't even reach that high? Maybe he thinks that if he doesn't have enough data to support it, people will not respect his wisdom. Or he thinks katherine mcphee in real life is listening. Nobody knows.

My favorite movie line comes from the movie Forrest Gump-stupidity is stupidity. I like it because it is easy to become its opposite: cleverness is cleverness. It is usually felt that we need numbers to quantify our intelligence, but intelligence is expressed through actions rather than numbers. Sometimes it even leads to successful TV programs, although the plot is a bit unbelievable.
