The University of Blida 1 is a public university located in Blida, Algeria. The institution of higher education has a rich legacy and traces its history as far back as 1519. Currently, the university offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses in science streams such as medicine, technology, and natural sciences.
The university aims to be a leading research university in Algeria and regularly conducts a wide range of faculty and students exchanges under the Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development (SATREPS) and the DAAD Scholarship Program. In addition to these, the university has also been an active participant in the Intra-African University Mobility Program and facilitates faculty and student exchanges from reputed African universities.
The university also has established several institutes such as the Veterinary Institute, Institute for Aeronautics and Aerospace Studies, Institute of Architecture and Urban Studies and the Institute for Applied Sciences and Processes.
The university has a large campus equipped with facilities such as a centralised library and a variety of recreational centres.
Social services, language learning and athletics activities are also organised through different student clubs on campus.
