Xiangtan University was established in 1958 in Xiangtan, at the order of Mao Zedong, in the Hunan province of China.
The wide range of disciplines available to study there include philosophy, history, public administration, tourism management, Marxism, literature and journalism, mathematics and computer science, physics and opto-electronics, chemistry, chemical engineering, information engineering, civil engineering and mechanics, physical education, art, foreign languages, law, business, materials science and engineering, mechanical engineering, environment and resources.
